Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. RunOctopus has never sold personal information for money, and we have no plans to start.
We do share some of it with Meta for advertising. Our marketing site, runoctopus.com, uses the Meta pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads. It tells Meta which of our pages you visited and whether you clicked to start, along with your IP address and browser details. California law calls this "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can stop it right here.
What this page is for
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information. Other U.S. states give similar rights. We honor this opt-out for everyone, wherever you live.
What you can opt out of
When you opt out, we will:
- Stop loading the Meta pixel on runoctopus.com in your browser, so no further page visits or clicks are shared with Meta
- Stop loading Google Analytics on runoctopus.com in your browser
- Treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as the same opt-out, with no click needed
The button works for the browser you click it in. If you email us instead, we will also make sure any email address you have given us is not shared with Meta for advertising.
Prefer to opt out by email?
Email us at hello@runoctopus.com with the subject line "CCPA Opt-Out Request." Include:
- Your name (or a pseudonym you've used with us)
- The email address associated with your account, if you have one
- A statement that you are a California resident
We will respond within 15 business days, as required by California law. We will not require you to create an account, verify your identity beyond what is necessary, or charge you for the request.
Authorized agents
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will require written, signed authorization from you confirming the agent's authority, and we may ask you to verify your identity directly.
Your other California rights
In addition to opting out of sale/sharing, California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell or share about you
- Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions
- Correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you
- Limit our use of "sensitive personal information" (we collect none, but the right exists)
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny service, charge a different price, or provide a lower quality of service because you exercised a CCPA right
