The verdict: if you want the work done for you and you want your business named in AI answers, RunOctopus is the better choice. Writesonic is good software, but it is software: someone on your team still has to choose the prompts, review the rewrites and publish the pages. With RunOctopus, Ollie (our AI) and our team research, write, publish and link the pages on your own site, they go live without waiting on you, and every page is built around what you actually sell.
Why RunOctopus is the better choice
- We do the work and publish on our own. Writesonic finds the gaps and drafts fixes for your team to review. We close them. Ollie and our team research, write, publish and link the pages on your site, on Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce or Wix. Nothing waits on you. You can read anything that went live and ask for changes.
- Fully automated, and built on real inputs. Ollie does the work from start to finish on its own, and our team keeps watch. Every page is built from real inputs, not generic AI text: your own catalog or services, your own search data, the real questions buyers ask AI assistants, and facts checked before anything publishes. A writing tool starts from a keyword and a prompt, and checking the facts is left to whoever reviews the draft.
- We know your catalog and services. We read your real products, collections or service list before we write, so each page answers a buyer's question with what you sell in it, then links into the product, collection or service pages that make the money. That is the part of topical authority a page-by-page tool leaves to you.
- Proven on real clients. A Los Angeles apartment broker sat at 12 to 57 Google clicks a month for eight months. After a large build, clicks reached 283 in August 2026, and ChatGPT named the firm on four of eight questions we checked. A Florida brokerage's recruiting site appeared on none of its four target searches on June 26, 2026. By October 13 it showed on three of the four, at positions 6, 2 and 1. Each case study uses the client's own Search Console numbers, misses included.
Writesonic is software your team runs: it tracks AI answers, suggests fixes, drafts and rewrites, and someone on your side reviews and publishes. RunOctopus is a done-for-you service: Ollie and our team decide what to write, write it, publish it on your site and link it into your products and services.
What Writesonic is in 2026
Older reviews of Writesonic, including an earlier version of this page, describe it as a fast article writer with a tracker bolted on. That is out of date. Writesonic's homepage now calls it "the AI search growth engine," built around three jobs: see where your brand shows up in AI answers, fix the pages that should show up, and measure what changed.
- Tracking. The self-serve plans track your prompts in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Enterprise adds Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Mode and Muse Spark, for nine engines in all. Starter tracks 50 prompts, Basic 100 and Growth 200.
- Fixing pages. Writesonic says its AI agent rewrites pages for GEO (generative engine optimization), adding FAQ blocks, comparison tables and short passages that AI engines like to quote. An SEO and content agent is on every plan, and site audits flag technical problems such as robots.txt or schema issues with a one-click fix.
- Writing. The Article Writer is still there: 15 articles a month on Starter, 25 on Basic and 50 on Growth.
- Ecommerce. A section for stores covers product-level tracking, product feed work and getting products into ChatGPT Shopping.
- Connections. The pricing page lists Google Search Console and WordPress on the self-serve plans, and GA4 and Looker Studio on Enterprise. It does not list Shopify, WooCommerce or Wix publishing.
So the old line, "Writesonic tracks the gap but cannot fix it," is no longer fair. Writesonic tracks and suggests fixes. The difference is who does the work and how far the work goes.

Who does each step
The table lists features, and it shows two more things we build that Writesonic does not: interactive tools such as calculators and product finders, and links into your selling pages. The more useful question is who does each step in a normal week. Writesonic's software takes on more than it used to, but a person on your side still chooses, reviews and publishes. With RunOctopus, that person is on our side.
What Writesonic does well
Writesonic has moved faster than most writing tools toward AI search, and it deserves credit for it.
- Tracking you can act on. Seeing which prompts mention you, which mention a competitor and which sources the AI cited is real information. Our guide to AI visibility tools compares it with the other trackers.
- Fixes, not just reports. An agent that adds an FAQ block and a clear comparison table to an existing page is doing a useful edit, a step past tools that only report a score.
- Technical clean-up. Audits of how AI crawlers hit your pages, with one-click fixes for things like a blocking robots.txt, help a team without a developer on call.
- Store features. Product-level tracking and feed work for ChatGPT Shopping are aimed squarely at online stores.
What it does not do is the work itself. Someone still has to run it every week, and the pages it helps with are the ones you already have or the ones you choose to write. If you only want a quick look at whether AI assistants mention you today, our free AI visibility checker does that without a subscription.
Can you use both?
Yes, if you like watching the numbers. Writesonic tracks how often AI answers mention you. RunOctopus builds and publishes the pages that answer those questions, linked into your products or services. Let one side own the content so two systems are not rewriting the same pages. Our GEO vs SEO guide explains why the same well-built pages tend to help in both Google and AI answers.
Who should pick Writesonic instead
Pick Writesonic if you have a marketer who wants to run AI tracking and content work in-house from a dashboard, if you are a larger brand that needs nine engines tracked on an Enterprise plan, or if your budget is under $500 a month and you have the hours to do the work yourself. For a team like that, it is a strong tool at a fair price. For a comparison of agencies that do this work for you, see our AI SEO agency guide.
Writesonic tracks AI answers and helps your team fix pages. RunOctopus does the fixing: pages planned, written, published on Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce or Wix and linked into what you sell, with case-study results to show for it. If you want to be named in AI answers without running the software yourself, choose RunOctopus.
