My content didn't install — what do I do?
If your content isn't showing on your store yet, it's almost always one of three things — it's still installing, your store needs a quick reconnect, or a piece hit a snag — and each one has a one-click fix.
If your content isn't showing on your store yet, take a breath — it's almost always one of three ordinary things, and each has a quick fix. Either it's still installing, your store needs a fast reconnect, or one piece hit a snag with Shopify. Let's walk through how to tell which, and what to do about it.
It might still be installing
A lot of the time nothing's wrong — the content is on its way. I install new articles in the background, checking every minute, so a piece can sit as pending for a short while before it lands on your store. Bigger batches take a little longer.
What to do: Give it a few minutes, then refresh your dashboard. If a piece still says pending after that, move on to the checks below.
Your store might need reconnecting
Every so often Shopify logs the app out — after a password change, a permissions update, or a plan change on their side. When that happens I can't push to your store until you reconnect, so anything waiting will pause rather than go live.
You'll see a reconnect nudge in your dashboard when this is the case. Reconnecting takes one click and puts everything back exactly as it was.
What to do: If you see a reconnect prompt, click it and sign back in. Connect your Shopify store walks through it if you'd like the full picture. Once you're back, your pending content installs on the next pass.
Some of it installed and some didn't
Now and then most of a batch goes through and one or two pieces don't — a partial install. This is usually a brief hiccup between us and Shopify, not a problem with your content. The pieces that landed are live; the ones that didn't are flagged so you can send them through again.
What to do: Open your dashboard and look for anything marked as needing attention. Each flagged piece carries a Retry button right beside it.
How to retry a piece
Retrying is one click. In your AI Vault, any piece that didn't install shows a retry option next to it — press it and I send that piece to your store again, fresh. You don't need to regenerate anything or start over; the content you already approved is what goes out.
If a retry keeps failing on the same piece, that's my signal to look closer — see the next section.
What to do: Head to your AI Vault, find the flagged piece, and click Retry. Watch for it to flip to installed.
When to reach out
If you've given it time, reconnected, and retried, and a piece is still stuck, that's on me to fix — not something you should wrestle with alone. There's usually a small, specific reason behind it, and I'd rather dig it out for you.
What to do: Message me right here in the app, or email a real human at matt@runoctopus.com. Tell me which piece is stuck and I'll get it sorted with you.
