The verdict: if you run a Shopify store and want the work done for you, with pages that get your store named in AI answers, RunOctopus is the best pick on this list. If you want to write yourself, the best free option is Shopify Magic, which is built into every store, and the best cheap way to fill a blog on autopilot is one of the AI blog agents in the Shopify App Store. Everything else here sits in between. Prices below were checked on each vendor's own site on October 20, 2026.
Why RunOctopus comes out on top
- We do the work and publish on our own. Every other tool here needs someone on your side to choose, review or approve. Ollie and our team research, write, publish and link the pages on your store. Nothing waits on you. You can read anything that went live and ask for changes.
- Fully automated, and built on real inputs. Ollie does the work from start to finish on its own, and our team keeps watch. Every page is built from real inputs, not generic AI text: your own catalog or services, your own search data, the real questions buyers ask AI assistants, and facts checked before anything publishes. Most AI writers on this list produce text from a keyword or a short topic description.
- We know your catalog. Pages are built from your real products and collections and link into the product and collection pages that sell, plus interactive tools like calculators and product finders that no writer on this list builds.
- Proven on real clients. On a reptile-feeder store, the site was the most-cited domain in every set of AI answers we checked (61 citations in one set, 80 in the other), and ChatGPT named it on 8 of 8 questions shaped like its guides. A Los Angeles apartment broker sat at 12 to 57 Google clicks a month for eight months. After a large build, clicks reached 283 in August 2026, and ChatGPT named the firm on four of eight questions we checked. Each case study uses the client's own Search Console numbers, misses included.

The four kinds of tool
"Best" depends on the job. AI content tools for Shopify fall into four groups, and each trades your time against how much it does:
- Writers you drive. You give a topic, they draft. Shopify Magic, Jasper, Copy.ai.
- Optimizers. They score one article against what ranks and help you tighten it. You still pick topics. Frase, Surfer SEO.
- Bulk publishers and agents. They pick or take keywords and publish posts on a schedule, with more or less planning. Shopify App Store blog agents, Koala AI, SEOmatic, SEO.ai.
- Done-for-you services. People plus AI do the planning, writing, publishing and linking. RunOctopus.

Where each tool sits
Two questions decide fit: how much should it produce (one piece or a whole library), and how much of the thinking do you want done for you. Plot those and the tools spread out.
An honest look at each tool
Shopify Magic. Free drafts built into your store
Shopify Magic is Shopify's own AI, included with your plan with no app to install. In the blog editor you describe a topic, pick a tone and get a draft in seconds, and you can make several versions before you publish. It writes in English. It does not choose topics, research what ranks or link posts into your products, so the thinking stays with you. For an owner who wants to write now and then, it is the obvious place to start, and it costs nothing extra.
Best for: owners who want free help drafting the occasional post or product description.
Shopify App Store AI blog agents. Volume on autopilot
The App Store now has dozens of apps that write and publish blog posts on a schedule. Auto Blogs Agent (AutopilotSEO, 4.6 stars from 130 reviews) says it writes and publishes SEO posts on your schedule, from a free plan of 3 posts a month up to $54 for 90. AutoWrite offers auto-publish from $9 a month. Most follow keywords you set and publish generic posts quickly. That fills a blog cheaply, but volume alone is not the same as pages that answer buyers' real questions, link into your products and get quoted in AI answers. Check reviews closely: many of these apps are new and have few.
Best for: stores that want a steady stream of blog posts for very little money and will check the output themselves.
Jasper. Agents for marketing teams
Jasper has moved from AI writer to agent workspace, with agents for SEO and GEO content, campaigns, email and social, and GEO reporting on its Business plan. The Creator plan is gone. Pro is $69 a seat a month, or $59 billed yearly, for one user. Jasper does not publish to Shopify, so your team moves the text over. Our Jasper comparison goes deeper.
Best for: marketing teams that want on-brand ads, emails and drafts in one place.
Copy.ai. Now a sales and marketing platform
Fullcast bought Copy.ai in October 2025, and it now sells itself as an AI go-to-market platform for sales and marketing teams. The Chat plan is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, and team plans start at $1,000. There is no free plan listed and no Shopify publishing. It can still draft copy, but it is no longer aimed at store content. See our Copy.ai for SEO page.
Best for: sales and revenue teams, not store SEO.
Koala AI. Cheap, researched, can publish to Shopify
Koala's SEO agent reads your Search Console and Analytics and proposes a content calendar for you to approve. KoalaWriter drafts from live search results, and Koala publishes to Shopify from its $25 Starter plan. Content Calendar Autopilot, from the $99 Boost plan, publishes the approved calendar on a schedule. By default each draft waits for your review. See our Koala AI comparison.
Best for: hands-on owners on a tight budget who will approve topics and review drafts.
Frase. Optimize one article, track AI answers
Frase builds briefs from the pages that already rank and scores your draft against them. AI visibility tracking now starts on the Starter plan, covering ChatGPT and Google AI, with more engines on higher plans. Starter is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly. Frase publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity and Wix, but its pricing page lists no Shopify connection.
Best for: owners who write their own posts and want each one structured to rank.
Surfer SEO. On-page scoring, now with AI tracking
Surfer grades a draft against what ranks and tells you what to add. Plans billed yearly start at $49 a month (Discovery), with Standard at $99 and Pro at $182. AI tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini comes on the AI Search Analytics plan and higher. It connects to WordPress and Google Docs, not Shopify.
Best for: stores serious about ranking individual articles and willing to do the on-page work.
SEO.ai. A hands-off article agent
SEO.ai writes SEO content on an ongoing basis and can publish it automatically or save drafts, and it names Shopify among its integrations. It costs $149 a month for one site or $299 for several sites or languages, with 25% off yearly. It is general-purpose, so check how well its articles connect to your catalog. Our SEO.ai comparison covers the differences.
Best for: owners who want articles handled by software and are fine without catalog-specific structure.
SEOmatic. Agents and pages at scale
SEOmatic has grown from templated programmatic pages into autonomous SEO agents with automated publishing, internal linking, an approval workflow and AI search visibility updates. It connects to Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, Wix and Framer. There is a free plan, then Launch at $99, Scale at $249 and Infrastructure at $699. See our SEOmatic comparison.
Best for: technical teams that want to configure agents and approve their work.
RunOctopus (Ollie). Done for you
RunOctopus is a service, not software you run. Ollie (our AI) and our team plan, write, publish and link pages on your store, built from your real products and collections, your own search data and the questions buyers ask AI assistants, with facts checked before anything goes live. That includes in-depth guides, collection pages and interactive tools like calculators and product finders. A launch foundation of 50+ pieces goes live in week one, then 175+ pieces a month. It publishes on Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce and Wix, for businesses from online stores to local service companies. The price is $497/mo, one plan. The trade-off is that you are not hand-tuning each page, and if you enjoy doing that, a tool above will suit you better.
Best for: store owners who want to be found in Google and named in AI answers without doing the work.

Optimizers and agents help a team that wants to do the work. If you want the work done, built from your catalog, published on your store and linked into what you sell, with case-study results behind it, RunOctopus is the best choice on this list.
