The short answer

The main Peec AI alternatives are Profound (enterprise, price on request), Otterly.AI (cheaper, from $29 a month), AthenaHQ (free tier, then $295 with 11 models), Scrunch (from $250), Ahrefs Brand Radar (from $199), Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit ($99 on top of a Semrush plan), Rankscale (from $99) and Surfer's AI Search Analytics ($82 billed yearly). Peec itself costs $95, $245 or $495 a month. All of these measure whether AI assistants mention you. None of them builds and publishes the pages that get you mentioned, which is the work RunOctopus does.

"Peec AI" gets about 2,900 searches a month in the US, mostly from people sizing it up. So this page starts with what Peec is good at, gives its real prices, puts it head to head with Profound, and then covers the rest.

What Peec AI does well

Peec is a clean, focused AI search tracker. It says more than 3,500 brands and agencies use it. You load the questions your buyers ask (Peec calls them prompts), choose the AI models to watch, and it runs them every day and reports how you show up. What stands out:

Users praise it for being simple. One testimonial on its pricing page sums up the routine as setting up prompts, seeing your AI visibility and acting on the top citations. That last step, acting, is still yours to do.

An extra model costs $30, $70 or $140 a month on annual billing, depending on the plan. Agencies get separate pricing. Every plan tracks daily and includes unlimited users.

Peec AI vs Profound

These two get compared more than any other pair in the category, and the honest answer is that they now serve different buyers.

Pick Peec over Profound if you want to start this week with a credit card, you need fewer than a few hundred prompts, and your team will do the content work itself. Pick Profound over Peec if you are an enterprise, you want agents that draft and stage the content work inside your CMS, and you have people to direct them. More on that side in our Profound alternatives comparison.

Notice what both have in common. Each needs a person on your side to read the report and do something about it. Neither one knows your products, your service area or which of your pages makes money.

Each Peec AI alternative, honestly

Otterly.AI: cheaper, simpler

Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Claude, AI Mode and Gemini as add-ons. Standard is $189 for 100 prompts and Premium $489 for 400. Unlimited team members on every plan, like Peec. Fewer prompts per dollar at the top, but the lowest entry price in the category.

AthenaHQ: more engines, plus a content agent

A free Essential tier with 300 credits, then Starter at $295 a month with 3,600 credits across 11 models, including Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI that Peec's self-serve plans do not offer. Starter adds on-page and off-page actions and a content optimization agent, with Shopify and Webflow integrations. Your team still decides what goes live.

Scrunch: tracking plus an AI-agent version of your site

Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot, with a seven-day trial. Enterprise adds nine models and Scrunch's Agent Experience Platform, which serves AI agents a version of your site built for them. Core includes basic content generation and one page optimization a month.

Profound: the enterprise step up

If you are outgrowing Peec and have the budget, Profound is the obvious next stop: up to nine engines, Prompt Volumes, Agent Analytics and Agents that write and stage content. There is no self-serve plan for brands, only a free trial and Enterprise.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar: for SEO suite users

Semrush's toolkit is $99 a month for 25 prompts and one domain, and needs a paid Semrush plan. Its Starter plan at $199 bundles 50 daily prompts with the SEO tools. Ahrefs Brand Radar starts at $199, can be bought alone, and lets you look up any brand across a database of more than 490 million prompts. If your team already lives in one of these suites, adding AI tracking there can beat a separate login. Our Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternatives page goes deeper.

Rankscale and Surfer

Rankscale's Pro plan is $99 a month for 1,200 credits across many engines, including Claude and Copilot, with a seven-day trial. Surfer's AI Search Analytics is $82 a month billed yearly for 50 daily prompts. Both are good for hands-on analysts.

How to choose in five minutes

The mistake we see most is buying a tracker and expecting the number to move. A tracker is a thermometer. It is worth having, and it tells you the same thing every morning until somebody changes what is on your site.

If you only need measurement, Peec is a fine choice

We will say it plainly: if you have writers and a publishing routine already, and you only need to know how AI answers treat you, Peec is a strong pick at a fair, published price, and you do not need RunOctopus. Otterly is the cheaper start, AthenaHQ the wider one. Before you pay for any of them, our free AI visibility checker gives a first reading, and our AI visibility tools guide explains what the numbers mean.

Our verdict: to get named in AI answers, RunOctopus is the better choice

Peec AI is a good way to find out where you stand. It is not the thing that changes where you stand. A tracker tells you that you are missing from the answer. The answer only changes when the right pages exist on your site, and somebody has to research, write, publish and link them. That is the job RunOctopus does, and it is why we are the better pick for a business that wants to be named, not just measured. Four reasons, in order of how much they matter.

1. We do the work and publish on our own

Ollie, our AI, and our team research, write, publish and link the pages on your own site. Nothing waits on you. You do not approve each page first, and you do not need a marketer to turn a dashboard into tasks. You can read anything that went live and ask for changes whenever you like. With Peec, the recommended actions land on your team, and nothing changes on your site until someone writes and publishes.

2. We know your catalog and services

Pages are built from your real products and services, and linked into the pages that sell them: product, collection and service pages. AI assistants recommend the specific business that the most sources vouch for, for that exact job. A page that names your actual products and your actual service area gives them something specific to cite, and the links carry the reader from the answer to the thing you sell.

3. Proven on real clients

We publish our case studies with the misses left in. On an AI answer check for a Los Angeles apartment broker, ChatGPT named the firm on 4 of 8 questions and Claude linked to it on 4 (the Sterman case study). For a reptile-feeder company, ChatGPT named the business on 4 of 8 generic buyer questions and on 8 of 8 comparison-style questions, and its site was the most-cited domain in every AI answer set we checked (the All Angles Creatures case study; that company was founded by the author of this page, and the study says so). In Google, a seven-week-old recruiting site went from showing on none of four broad recruiting searches to three of four (the Florida recruiting case study).

4. Fully automated, and built from real inputs

Ollie does the work automatically from start to finish, and our team keeps watch. Every page is built from real inputs, not generic AI text: your own catalog or services, your own search data, the real questions buyers ask AI assistants, and facts checked before anything publishes. Trackers only report. Generic AI writers produce text that could sit on anyone's site. Neither gives an AI assistant a reason to pick you.

The short version

If you want a dashboard, pick the tracker that fits your budget. If you want to be the business the AI names, pick RunOctopus. We build the pages that earn the mention and publish them on your site, and you can still plug in any tracker you like to watch the score.

Weighing a tool against a service? Our page on what an AI SEO agency does sets out the trade in plain terms.

Otterly.AI (from $29 a month) if you want cheaper, AthenaHQ (free tier, then $295) if you want more engines, Scrunch (from $250), Ahrefs Brand Radar (from $199), the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit ($99 with a Semrush plan) and Profound for enterprises. If you want the pages that get you named built and published for you, RunOctopus does that work instead of another dashboard. Prices checked October 20, 2026.

How much does Peec AI cost?

Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, Pro is $245 for 150 and Advanced is $495 for 350. Each tracks three AI models of your choice daily, with unlimited users. Enterprise is custom and covers up to 13 models. Extra models cost $30 to $140 a month on annual billing.

Is Peec AI better than Profound?

For a team that wants self-serve tracking at a published price, yes. Peec starts at $95 a month on a card, while Profound offers brands only a free trial and a custom Enterprise contract. Profound is the stronger platform for large enterprises that want more engines and agents that write and stage content in their CMS.

Which AI models does Peec AI track?

Self-serve plans let you pick three from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI, and add more for a fee. Enterprise can track up to 13 models, including Claude, Perplexity, Grok and DeepSeek.

Does Peec AI write content?

No. Peec tracks AI answers, shows sources and gaps, and recommends actions, and it has an agent for working with your data. Writing and publishing the pages is left to your team. RunOctopus is built to do that part for you.

Can I use Peec AI and RunOctopus together?

Yes. Peec watches how often AI assistants name you, and RunOctopus builds and publishes the pages that give them a reason to. It is a sensible pairing for a business that wants both a score and the work.

Peec shows the gap. We close it.
