For a business that wants the work done and wants to be named in AI answers, RunOctopus is the better choice than Frase. Frase is now a full content platform: it audits, researches, drafts with an AI Agent, scores pages for SEO and GEO (AI answers), tracks AI mentions and publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix or its own CMS, from $49 a month. It is strong software. But someone on your side still runs it: the brand profile, the topics, the autonomy dial and the review queue. RunOctopus does the job itself, builds every page from what you actually sell, works on Shopify, and has client results to show for it.
Why RunOctopus is the better choice
1. We do the work and publish on our own
Ollie (our AI) and our team research, write, publish and link the pages on your site. Nothing waits on you. You can read anything that went live and ask for changes. With Frase, drafts wait in a review queue by default, and even with Auto switched on a person sets up the brand profile, approves the plan and watches what ships. That suits a marketer who wants to drive. It does not suit an owner with no one to drive. Our page on AI SEO services explains what a done-for-you engagement covers.
2. We know your catalog and services
Frase plans from topics and clusters. We plan from your real products, collections or services: what buyers compare, what they ask before they buy or call, and which of your pages should catch each question. Every page links into the specific products, collections or services it covers, the pages that actually sell. Our piece on internal linking explains why those links matter for rankings and for sales.
3. Fully automated, and built on real inputs
Ollie does the work automatically from start to finish, and our team keeps watch. Every page is built from real inputs, not generic AI text: your own catalog or services, your own search data, the real questions buyers ask AI assistants, and facts checked before anything publishes. Frase's Agent drafts from research on what already ranks plus a brand profile you write. That is better than a blank prompt, but it still starts from a keyword, not from your catalog.
4. Proven on real clients
We publish our client results, misses included, and every number here comes from those studies. All Angles Creatures, a reptile-feeder store, earned 5,447 Google clicks in the 28 days to October 10, 2026, up from 3,645 in the 28 days before, and on two locked sets of buyer questions it was the most-cited site in every AI answer set (61 citations in the first, 80 in the second). Sterman Multifamily, a Los Angeles apartment broker, went from 12 to 57 Google clicks a month to 283 in August 2026, and ChatGPT named the firm on four of eight questions we checked. Both studies also say what did not move. The rest are on our case studies page.

What Frase is now
Earlier versions of this page said Frase helps a writer research and score one article at a time, and that you copy the result into your CMS. Both points are out of date. Frase's site now describes one workflow from audit to hosting:
- Audit and research. A site audit scores each page for search and AI answers and hands back a prioritized fix list. Research maps the cluster around each topic and ends in a brief.
- An AI Agent that drafts. It writes with your brand profile and your ranking pages in mind, and it runs from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or a terminal too.
- An autonomy dial. For each content type you choose Manual, Review only or Auto. Drafts wait in a review queue unless you opt into Auto, and the Agent can auto-publish on every plan once it is on. Your monthly article limit is the only cap.
- Publishing. Straight to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, or to FraseCMS, a hosted CMS on your own domain.
- Upkeep. Content Guard watches published pages and drafts a fix when one slips, waiting for your approval unless you opt in.
- AI tracking. Daily tracking of how AI assistants mention you, with more engines on higher plans.
What Frase does well
- A lot of software for the price. Research, writing, scoring, publishing, upkeep and AI tracking from $39 a month billed yearly.
- Control. The review queue and the per-type autonomy dial let you decide exactly how much runs on its own.
- Research depth. SERP research and briefs were Frase's original strength, and they are still there for anyone who wants to see why a page should cover what it covers.
- GEO scoring. A score for how well a page is set up to be quoted in AI answers, next to the usual SEO score.
- Works for any kind of site on the CMSs it supports, plus its own.
Other differences worth knowing
Shopify
Frase's publishing list is WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix and FraseCMS. Shopify is not on it. RunOctopus publishes on Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce and Wix. For a Shopify store, that alone may decide it.
Pick topics and set the plan: Frase, You, with research tools. RunOctopus, Ollie and our team. Write the page: Frase, AI Agent drafts it. RunOctopus, Ollie and our team. Decide what goes live: Frase, You, unless you turn on Auto. RunOctopus, Goes live on its own. Publish to the site: Frase, WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix, FraseCMS. RunOctopus, Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce, Wix. Link to products or services: Frase, Link suggestions (Professional+). RunOctopus, Built into every page. Interactive tools (calculators, quizzes): Frase, Not offered. RunOctopus, Built for the site. Track AI answers: Frase, Daily, engines vary by plan. RunOctopus, Not a dashboard product.
Interactive tools
Frase writes pages and has an on-site Q&A widget. RunOctopus also builds working tools, such as a calculator, a quiz or a product finder, which answer questions text can't and tend to earn links and return visits.
Scores versus judgment
Frase gives each page an SEO score and a GEO score to push up. We don't sell a score. Our team reads each page against the question it is meant to answer before it goes live. Both approaches aim at the same thing, being picked by Google and by AI assistants. Our guide to GEO versus SEO covers what each one rewards.
Who should pick Frase instead
Frase is the better fit if you have a writer or marketer who wants to drive research, drafting and publishing, if you want to review every draft or set exactly how much runs on its own, if your site runs on WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, if you want GEO scores and an AI tracking dashboard you check yourself, or if your budget is $39 to $299 a month. For a wider look at software, see our roundup of AI SEO tools.
Can you use both?
You can, but they now overlap a lot. Both plan, write and publish, so running both on one site means two systems picking topics for the same pages. A split that works: RunOctopus builds and publishes the core library, and a writer on your team uses Frase's research and scores on a few pages they want to own personally. If nobody on your team wants to write, there is little reason to pay for both.
Frase is a strong, affordable content platform for people who want to run one. RunOctopus is the better choice for a business that wants the work done and wants to be named in AI answers: we write, publish and link the pages ourselves, we build them from your own products and services, including on Shopify, and our client results are public.
Frequently asked questions
Is Frase or RunOctopus better for my business?
It depends on who will do the work. Frase is a self-serve platform that researches, drafts with an AI Agent, scores pages for SEO and AI answers, and publishes, steered by someone on your team. RunOctopus is a done-for-you service: Ollie, our AI, and our team plan pages around your products or services, write them, link them in, and publish on Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce or Wix.
Does Frase publish content automatically?
It can. Frase publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix and its own hosted CMS, and its AI Agent can auto-publish on every plan once you switch Auto on for a content type. By default drafts wait in a review queue for your approval.
Can Frase publish to Shopify?
Frase's own site lists WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix and FraseCMS as publishing targets, and Shopify is not among them as of October 20, 2026. RunOctopus publishes on Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce and Wix.
How much does Frase cost compared to RunOctopus?
On October 20, 2026, Frase listed Starter at $49, Professional at $129 and Scale at $299 a month, or $39, $103 and $239 a month billed yearly, with 10, 40 and 100 articles a month. Enterprise is custom. RunOctopus is $497 a month.
Does Frase track AI search visibility?
Yes. Starter tracks ChatGPT and Google AI, Professional adds Perplexity, and Scale adds Claude and Gemini, tracked daily. Every plan also gives each page an SEO score and a GEO score. RunOctopus writes the pages that get cited. RunOctopus is not a tracker you run: your account shows the pages that went live and where AI assistants name your business, and changing that is our job.
Can I use Frase and RunOctopus together?
Yes, though they overlap. A split that works is RunOctopus for the core library and a writer using Frase's research and scores on a few pages they want to own. If no one on your team writes, paying for both rarely makes sense.
