What is the Storefront Assistant?

The Storefront Assistant is a chatbot that lives on your own store and answers your shoppers' questions while they browse. It's built only from your real products and policies, and it links shoppers straight to the product they're asking about.

Almost everything else I do is aimed at people who haven't found you yet: people searching Google or asking an AI. The Storefront Assistant is for the person who's already on your store and about to leave with a question unanswered.

It's switched on store by store

The Assistant isn't on for every store yet. If you open Storefront Assistant in your dashboard and see "Not switched on yet", reach out at hello@runoctopus.com and we'll get it live on your store.

What it answers, and what it won't

It answers from your real product pages and policies: sizes, ingredients, shipping, returns, what's in stock. It never makes things up. If the answer isn't in your store's own information, it won't invent one.

Our team builds and refreshes its answers for you, so there's nothing to write or maintain yourself.

Going live: one switch in your theme

Once your answers are built, shoppers can only see the chat after you turn it on in your Shopify theme. It takes about ten seconds:

1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
2. Click Edit theme on your live theme.
3. Click App embeds in the left sidebar, find RunOctopus, and switch it on.
4. Click Save.

Making it yours

You can name the assistant and choose its accent color so it fits your store, and you can try it yourself on the same page before your shoppers do.
